we ride moto tours
-
Helmet: I prefer the modular ones, as they can be used in different climates and situations, with a built-in polarized visor. If you use prescription glasses, test before you buy if glasses don´t touch the visor.
-
Gloves: Have at least three pairs for different climates (including rain) and some very fresh ones. I always carry bicycle gloves for very warm days.
-
Boots: I like taking two pairs, one for cold and rainy weather, and another for hot temperatures.
-
Main Equipment: Long jacket (stretching further down the waist), with lots of pockets and high neck, with add-ons for cold and rain. Pants should correspond to the jacket and have the chance to zip them together. They have to be long and curvy. Buying them in a physical store is always better than internet, as we can ensure they fit perfectly.
-
Waterproof equipment: I prefer two-piece ones (pants and jacket), as they allow more mobility. I haven’t yet found 100% waterproof boots, so in rainy weather I typically use nylon covers on top of them, which are inexpensive and occupy no space at all.
-
Miscellaneous: Take both short and long sleeve t-shirts; tennis socks both long and short; 2 sets of thermal underwear (shirt and pants). Use neck warmers and bandanas for long hairs. Bathing suit and towel. Large Ziploc bags are always useful.
-
Once we get down from the bike: jeans, a light and portable waterproof jacket with lots of pockets, running shoes (preferably with light soles to save space). I always take an elegant pair of pants and shirt for special nights. Remember, enough underwear.
-
Hygiene: toothpaste and toothbrush; shampoo and small soap; toilet and tissue paper; shaving cream and razors; nail clipper and comb. Sunscreen for face and lips. If you face long plane trips, earplugs and blindfolds always come in handy for tour & trip. Remember always taking liquids in Ziploc bags.
-
A first aid kit can literally save your life; over the counter painkillers are useful as well.

I also recommend visiting a specialized moto clothes store, before leaving for your trip. Not everything can be bought in the Internet because of fits and sizes. In Montevideo, you’ll find everything you need in Alpinestars Uruguay: www.rad.com.uy, and in Madrid www.motocard.com/es
